COVID19 Vaccination in Uganda

Uganda has joined the rest of the world in COVID-19 Vaccination.

This after the Ministry of Health received 964,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID -19 vaccines under the COVAX Initiative. The People’s Republic of China is also donating 300,000 more doses. This marks a historical step towards the goal of ensuring equitable distribution of COVID – 19 vaccines by the end of 2021. The free vaccination is initially targeting health workers in public and private health facilities because of their frontline work that puts them at risk of infection.

Teachers, the elderly aged 50 and above, as well as security personnel will also be vaccinated in this first phase. By  June, 2021 a good number of Ugandans should be vaccinated to boast preventive strategies against COVID-19.
